Seeing a Doctor

How our appointment system works

Patients may book an appointment up to five working days ahead, for example on Monday you may book an appointment for the following Monday.  We also reserve appointments that are available to be booked on the day.  We also offer emergency appointments.  If a Patient asks for an emergency appointment, a message will be passed to the Doctor-on-call who will decide if an emergency appointment is appropriate.

The reason we do not allow patients to book more than five working days ahead is that in the past when we have allowed patients to make appointments more than one week ahead we have found that many patients do not attend for their appointment resulting in a large number of wasted appointments.

In order for our staff to be able to assist you fully please be prepared to answer any questions the reception staff may need to ask you. Your co-operation will ensure that you are made an appointment with the most appropriate health care professional.

There is no change to the booking of appointments for baby clinic, antenatal or with the practice nurses etc.

When The Surgery Is Closed

If you need a Doctor urgently when the surgery is closed please telephone 305895. A member of our local GP Co-op will attend these calls. You may be invited to attend a Primary Health Care Centre. All telephone calls are recorded. In an emergency an ambulance can be summoned by dialling 999

Home Visits

If you are too ill to attend the surgery a home visit can be arranged by telephoning the surgery. If possible please telephone before 10.30 am so that the Doctors can plan their rounds. Explaining the nature of the problem to the Receptionist will also help the Doctors to see the most urgent cases first.
